Job Type: Full Time
Job Location: Høyanger Norway
Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Technician to support the operation of a pilot facility focused on advanced material production. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience with high-temperature processes and equipment, such as furnaces and their instrumentation and controls. Experience with analytical techniques for measuring material properties—such as particle size, thermal properties, and composition is desirable. The role also requires trade skills, including piping, electrical wiring, and welding, to support facility maintenance and operations.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain high-temperature equipment, such as furnaces, to support pilot facility operations.
  • Install, repair, and maintain piping systems, electrical wiring, and welded components as needed for facility functionality.
  • Monitor and adjust instrumentation and control systems to ensure optimal process conditions.
  • Conduct analytical measurements of material properties (e.g., particle size, thermal properties, composition) using established techniques and equipment.
  • Assist in material preparation, pilot test operations, and troubleshooting of equipment or process issues.
  • Perform general maintenance tasks, leveraging trade skills to ensure equipment reliability and safety.
  • Document operational data, maintenance activities, and test results with accuracy.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
  • Collaborate with engineers and team members to support facility goals and process enhancements.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate’s degree in a trade-related field (e.g., industrial maintenance, process technology) preferred.
  • 2-5 years of experience with high-temperature processes and equipment, such as furnaces, in an industrial or pilot setting.
  • Proficiency in instrumentation and controls systems for process monitoring and adjustment.
  • Working knowledge of analytical techniques for material property measurement (e.g., particle size analysis, thermal testing, compositional analysis).
  • Demonstrated trade skills, including:
    • Piping: Ability to install, repair, and maintain industrial piping systems.
    • Electrical Wiring: Competence in basic wiring, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems.
    • Welding: Experience with welding techniques (e.g., MIG, TIG, or arc welding) for equipment fabrication and repair.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to safety standards and regulatory compliance.

Preferred Skills

  • Prior experience in a pilot facility or R&D environment.
  • Familiarity with material handling and preparation for high-temperature processes.
  • Basic understanding of data recording and process optimization.
