Tungsten Carbide
Unmatched hardness and density for critical wear resistance.
COLD-ROLLED COIL PRODUCTS
Tungsten Carbide (WC) is a dense, extremely hard composite material formed from tungsten and carbon. It’s prized for its exceptional wear resistance, mechanical strength, and ability to maintain performance in abrasive and high-pressure environments. Refacture sources WC from waste streams using our advanced High-Temperature Plasma (HTP) platform, enabling circular recovery and onshore availability of a material typically dependent on foreign and unstable supply chains.
With geopolitical pressures threatening access to critical materials, domestic production of tungsten carbide is essential to securing supply chains for defense, aerospace, and manufacturing. WC plays a vital role in hard-facing applications, munitions, machining, and energy systems—making it a material of consequence for both warfighting capabilities and industrial resilience. Refacture’s approach strengthens U.S. material sovereignty while reducing environmental burdens through recovery-based sourcing.
Applications & Grades
They are a base material in applications that do not require any formability beyond minimal bending and/or roll-forming.
- Defense & Munitions: Armor-piercing rounds, shaped charges, high-density penetrators
- Aerospace: Abrasion-resistant components, nozzle tips, valve seats
- Manufacturing: Cutting tools, dies, drills, and precision machining components
- Energy Sector: Wear parts in oil & gas drilling, geothermal tools, and mining systems
- 3D Printing & Advanced Fabrication: Powders for additive manufacturing in high-stress applications
